Every year the International Leadership Federation in Los Angel Chapter will held a work shop and lunch meeting, my friend is one of the sponsors, and invites us to attend .

Since the topics about younger adult leadership is one of my son’s interests , thanks for the consideration of Mr. Jin, we three have the chance to attend , although my son’s training center needs him at 1:30pm , he still can accompany with us , maybe all the event may end up by that time.

So we arrived at the Almansor court banquet room around 11:30 am , it seemed the work shop did not finish , formal dining will be held around 12:30pm. After a short social chatting with different people, The lunch party starts.

As usual, few boy scouts escorted the flags in, we pledged to the flag and one younger lady sang the national anthem , after that a series of brief lectures by different people who either are the organizers or merit holders. One lady I used to know is the formal Mayor of Monterey Park Lily Lee Chen, we had a mutual friend and used to visit Mr. Pai Hsien Yung’s Santa Barbra house 15 years ago. What a time passing by. In her 80’s, she looks marvelous and healthy!

Other famous people such as the congresswoman Jude Chu, she appears at almost every Chinese American event. The state treasurer John Chiang, the future star of the Democrat party. Lots people think that he maybe the future of California governor. By the way, most Asia Pacific politicians are Democrats, comparing the people of those I met on lines who mostly are supporters the Republicans, I guess the nonscientific observation of mine has some inaccuracy. Small sample cannot represent all. Just remind me the unsuccessful bid of the Republican Matt Fong to Senator Boxer, his mother is the famous state secretary March Fong Eu, a Democrat. What a lovely relationship in one family with two different political ideology.

The dinner includes a good marinated chicken breast as main dish and brown rice and various vegetables, plus the salad, coffee, tea, and sweet chocolate cake. There are 2 younger man who attend the ILF work shop at each tab. It is very nice to talk with them and know what they have learned and their future goals. They have one mission ---to sell the table center piece which is donated by the designer. I guess that they did not get the training of the ART of SELLING., or just too shy to ask everybody to bid the center piece. I used to call this a way to collect semi volunteered donation! JK.

After lunch, before the keynote speaker walked to the stage, there is a technical problems for the computer to show the glory clips of her. Finally the admirable Olympic champion Janet Evan gave the inspirational speech. She talked about her life traces thru the age 15 to 40, just imaging some country never got a medal in Olympic Games, she got 4 gold and 1 silver! And she tried to compete again when she was 40, that is so touching for all, a person pursued the dreams through different motives. She is very sincere to share all the personal mind settings with all the youngers, really a very magnificent speech.

So, the event ended, the 5th annual Advisory board Inauguration. Saw many youngers attending, they have the opportunities to be an intern in the government, like my friend’s daughter Jacqueline Jin , after the White house internship, she went to work for the foreigner department and soon will be a diplomat somewhere in the US ambassadors. What a wonderful thing for our next generation. The parent must be above average income and have time to support all, either you have money or your kids have the talent, though that is not a political correct saying. Yes! we can and have different reachable dreams, that is my final conclusions!
